Construction Accounting
You know what the job sold for.
Do you know what it actually made?
Construction accounting and back-office support for established Arizona General Contractors and Subcontractors

A full schedule doesn't always mean a profitable one. Here's what we bring into view.
1. Job Costing:
Know what each job actually costs — not just what it sold for. We connect labor, materials, and change orders to the right project, so profitability isn't a guess.
2. Labor Allocation:
Payroll gets processed every week. But is it landing on the right jobs and cost codes? We make sure labor hours tell you something useful about each project.
3. Progress Billing:
AIA billing, retainage, and draw schedules — handled correctly, so your billing keeps pace with the work and your cash flow doesn't lag behind it.
4. Project Reporting:
Clear, job-level financial reporting that tells you which projects are performing and which ones need attention — before it's a year-end surprise.
5. Tax-Ready Books:
Clean, accurate books all year, so year-end isn't a scramble. When it's time to file, your numbers are already in order.
Built on Real Construction Experience
Melissa Smallwood's accounting career began in construction — progressing from Accounting Assistant to Project Accountant to Controller, managing corporate accounting functions and working directly with the financial systems contractors rely on every day. That includes job costing, WIP schedules, AIA billing, payroll, AP/AR, back charges, and Textura, across multiple active projects at once.
She holds a Master's in Accounting and is a QuickBooks Online & Desktop Pro Advisor, and has run SIM Financial Services for 11 years as a Better Business Bureau–accredited firm.
That means SIM Financial Services understands the parts of your business a general bookkeeper often misses — where costs actually belong, how billing should track against progress, and what your numbers need to say before a bank, bonding agent, or tax season asks.
